As an artist I have multiple personalities. I am a painter, a photographer, a sculptor, and a digital media artist. But most importantly, I am a researcher. I approach creative endeavours as activities of exploration. When I look through the viewfinder of my camera, pick up a paintbrush, or handle a fresh lump of clay, my perception changes. I'm drawn into the physical nature of the medium--a mini universe where time and reality are temporarily suspended. I seek to organize and transform the materials into meaningful surprises and resolutions which are true to their own nature. It is my constant challenge as an artist to seek fresh ways of representing my daily struggles and thoughts into art objects that memorialize my personal myths and beliefs. I recently moved to Kelowna after retiring from teaching art and photography in North Vancouver, BC. I feel very fortunate now to have the time to devote myself fully to my own art and the art of living well.
